Wedding

Searching for a barn wedding venue with equal parts beauty and charm? Look no further than Sylvanside Farm. Sylvanside was recently named a “Top Virginia Wedding Venue for an Unforgettable Celebration”. Our country estate features two barns, a picturesque pond overlook, rolling fields and a lush orchard to choose from as the backdrop for your wedding ceremony, cocktail hour and reception. With on-site accommodations for you and guests, and an assortment of included rentals and decor, we’ll help you to tailor the day to be as unique as your love – classic and all your own.

Romantic Stone Barn

The Stone Barn is the heart of Sylvanside Farm’s old-world charm. Originally hand-built in 1744, the craftsmanship stands as a nod to love that stands the test of time. The space is perfect for an intimate reception, a covered space for an ind0or ceremony (hello, rain plan!), cocktail reception with the built-in bar, or the backdrop for photoshoots with our friendly pair of Clydesdales. Seats 200.

Rustic Poplar Barn

At over 200 feet long, our Poplar Barn makes Sylvanside Farm one of the largest barn venues in Virginia. The post-and-beam barn is not only renowned for its scale, but also its sense of rustic grandeur. Able to host up to 350 seated guests for any occasion, it provides a weather-proof rain date alternative for weddings or large parties.

Enchanting Pond Overlook

Two natural springs flow to our breathtaking freshwater pond complete with wooden dock, weeping cherries, and spectacular sunset views. The overlook is an unforgettable site for ceremonies, intimate post-ceremony pictures or a private, celebratory glass of champagne.

Intimate Orchard

Spring-blooming apple cherry and magnolia trees which frame a rectangular lawn in our homestead’s orchard provide an unspeakably beautiful backdrop for couples who are hoping for natural, outdoor beauty to illuminate their ceremony. The site boasts an organic altar of two boxwoods that can be decorated to suit. This intimate setting can accommodate weddings of up to 250 guests.

“It is truly a dream wedding venue in every way. Sylvanside Farm is an absolutely beautiful venue and you can feel the love in the air…The place honestly speaks for itself. It has so much character and you have to see it for yourself. Our guests could not stop raving about how beautiful and unique Sylvanside was.””

— Sanam, 2019 Sylvanside Bride

Our mission is to help you put on the wedding of your dreams – so why bother with the nightmare of extra rentals and hidden costs you find at other venues? When you book a wedding at Sylvanside, you get access to our whole list of complimentary offerings.

There's no way we could have arrived at this moment without the unstoppable, unforgettable, undeniable love of all the couples and guests who have said yes to love - yes to dancing - yes to strolling through the fields, arm in arm without a care in the world.

Proud to remember the man who was not afraid to lead the people toward truth and justice, to stand for what is right rather than follow the status quo. May we continue to follow his lead, and the guidance of so many other unsung activists, as we structure our every day toward justice and love.

Dreaming up the best year yet! It's hard to Dreaming up the best year yet!

It's hard to believe when we got to the land just three years ago, it was in foreclosure. There was an offer on the land to take down the existing buildings - including our Poplar Barn, which is the largest in the county and built in the 1800's.
The plan? To put in a cluster of new houses.

The land had fallen wild, and no one had lived here for many years. The buildings were covered in vines (we're talking many thousands of dollars, just for vine removal), and we worked many nights and days without rest, just to get it up and running again.

And now, to think that we've had our 90th wedding and all 5 star reviews.

Every building has been rebuilt (by our in-house woodshop) by our co-owner and Jack-of-all-trades, Jeff, who grew up just down the street in Bluemont and was trained in his trade just miles away.

We stocked the pond with fish and have been attracting chimney swifts to create ecological balance. We encourage bats and pollinators, foregoing use of chemicals on the land, even when that's the easy option. We aim to keep the water from the spring-fed wells that charge our ponds cleaner than it was before it sprang naturally from the ground.

We foster Milking Devons, Clydesdales, and heritage breed guinea hogs to help us bring back the land in a way that reflects the Scottish ancestors who founded Sylvanside in the 1700's. Even a ring-tailed pheasant has started popping by lately, and has posted up near our hand-built chicken house to stay safe.

Our hope, our wish, our intention, is for every one who comes on the property to feel this safety. To feel respite amongst the constant development, the whirlwind that has been this year, and this time. We strive to stay true to this spirit of integrity as we bring the land back to health - keeping it as resilient as possible so that when you, and your families, stroll down the drive, you feel it to your bones.
